So who are the Cottage Bloggers?

Heather bought her first cottage in Ontario when she was still living in UK, and managed to rent it out from a distance. Then she bought another, and another, and at one point owned and rented out 5 cottages. Since 1999 Heather has learnt a lot about being a vacation rental home owner; a lot of tips and tricks to make the process run smoothly, and even more about what works and what doesn’t. Taking all that knowledge and putting it in a book seemed a useful thing to do and she published 'Renting your Profit', which was reprinted as a second edition called 'Renting your Recreational Home for Profit' by Self Counsel Press.

Heather also runs a cottage rental management agency, write articles, and blog on anything cottage-related. Her own current properties, Osprey and Kingfisher Cottage rents throughout the year and she does everything she talks about to maximise occupancy and create significant income from it.

Mike is Heather's son, business partner and fellow cottage owner. After moving to Canada in 2002, Mike set up his own cottage property maintenance business to meet the ever high demand for quality service providers to the vacation rental industry. At age 30 Mike realized the unbelievable investment potential with vacation rental properties and he and his wife pulled there finances together to but their second property to manage as a rental property. Seabreeze Cottage has done very well and already books up 12 months in advance. Mike and his wife are already looking for their next property!

Mike's skill sets really come into play with the technical side of cottage blogger. He manages and maintains the website, produces videos and podcasts while trying to stay on the cutting edge of multimedia development.
