Canada's East Coast trade gateway connecting to 150 countries and generating $1.5 billion in economic spin offs from a diverse cargo and cruise business. The Port of Halifax is a major contributor to the economy of Nova Scotia and is a national asset connecting importers and exporters with global markets.
Direct and spin-off impacts of port-related activities include $1.58 billion in gross output and $671 million in Gross Domestic Product.

Today, we had the great pleasure of seeing the unveiling of the newest monument in Halifax, one dedicated to the tireless efforts of women on the waterfront during World War 2. The monument is, appropriately, called "The Volunteers" and we are grateful for their service.
