One year ago today, I made this statement in the House of Commons regarding Energy East. It was one of the most viewed videos I've ever posted then, and I think it's even more applicable today.
Today, I made the following statement in the House of Commons, celebrating the contributions of four local municipal leaders who recently retired from political life: "Mr. Speaker, last week, Albertans voted in municipal elections, and in Canada’s largest constituency of Edmonton-Wetaskiwin, four outstanding leaders retired after nearly a century of collective service among them. Today I rise, on behalf of our shared constituents, to offer heartfelt appreciation to Mayor Greg Krischke, from Leduc; Mayor Camille Berube, from Beaumont; Mayor Bill Elliot, from Wetaskiwin; and Mayor John Whaley, from Leduc County. These men have been exceptional leaders – impassioned champions for their communities. Along with their council colleagues, they translated that passion into meaningful action, and the lives of the people they served were made better, and will continue to be better, because of their work in office. All the while, Mr. Speaker, each of these mayors conducted their business with the utmost of grace, compassion, and genuine goodness. Greg, Camille, Bill, and John – it has been an honour to serve alongside you. God bless you and your families as you embark your next adventures."
This is very cool! It's Waste Reduction Week in Canada, and today I came across an organization doing incredible work in Edmonton and Calgary. They ensure that good food, left over in the retail and hospitality sector, doesn't go to waste. Check it out, and get involved as a volunteer, supplier or service provider today!
People are awesome! 🙂
Great day in Beaumont with the official launch of public transit service to Century Park in Edmonton. Ten return trips per day. Just a 23-minute express ride!
An interesting read from the World Economic Forum website.
Jaden and I are live on the field at Commonwealth Stadium tonight, with our friend Adarius Bowman, after the Esks-Stamps game. Chatting about tomorrow's Autism Speaks Canada Walk in Edmonton's Rundle Park. I'll also have him talk a bit about the inspiration behind his organization, Adarius 4 Autism. Please share and help us raise awareness of this guy's incredible passion to use his platform to make a meaningful difference in people's lives. Edmonton Eskimo Football Club
Jaden and I are excited to join our friend Adarius Bowman, Eskimos receiver and founder of Adarius 4 Autism, tomorrow at the Autism Speaks Canada Edmonton Walk in Rundle Park. Jaden is leading in fundraising, by a margin of less than $100, with about 24 hours to go! To help him about with a contribution, please click on the link below - it takes just a couple of minutes with a credit card. Autism Speaks Canada is a wonderful organization which really makes the most of the money they raise across Canada with these walks. Thanks everyone, and if you have time tomorrow, we'd love for you to come and join us! :-)
Hi all, As many of you know, Jaden has been an enthusiastic participant and team leader in the Edmonton Walk for Autism Speaks since it started a decade ago. This year's walk takes place just two weeks from today at Rundle Park. This has been an eventful year for Jaden. At 21, it was his first year out of high school. He found a wonderful program, called Quest for Independence, at the Centre for Autism Services Alberta, where he learns important life skills that will help him unlock his potential as an adult. Jaden continues to use his superpowers - his authenticity, passion, love and honesty - to help us all to rethink our definition of ‘normal’, changing our interactions with all of the people around us. He is excited to join his friends on the team from the Centre at this year’s walk, in support of the incredible work done by Autism Speaks Canada. We'd love it if you'd consider supporting Jaden's walk with a donation. Simply click on the link and then on the blue 'Donate to Jaden' button on the right side of his page. It takes about two minutes to make a donation with a credit card. And if you'd like to come out and walk with us, Jaden would be very happy to see you and give you an enthusiastic high five. Your support is much appreciated! All the best, Mike
Five minutes well-spent!
