Mulberry Moon Farm
Description
We are two young farmers growing an organic, sustainable, diverse family farm. We grow vegetables, raise pigs on pasture, and have a flock of hens. We are a young couple growing our farm business. We are currently on leased land just outside of Orangeville, Ontario.
We believe that everyone should have access to fresh, nutritious, locally-grown food, and we want to play our part in our local community by providing this. We are passionate about sustainable agriculture, reconnecting growers and eaters, and revitalizing the mixed family farm. We love good food, and we love growing it!
We grow over 30 varieties of vegetables, and raise pastured pork and free-range egg laying hens. We have a harvest share program known as CSA (community supported agriculture), where you can sign up to receive a box of veggies from our weekly harvest from June-October. We also operate a self-serve farmstand stand with you can purchase our vegetables and organic free-range eggs directly Fridays-Sundays. We attend Orangeville Farmers Market, and supply produce to local restaurants.

Kohlrabi, the loneliest vegetable in the world of healthy eating
I have such a soft spot in my heart for kohlrabi. It's such a trooper out in the field, it's got a fabulous colour, and it's so versatile in the kitchen, raw or cooked. Plus it looks like a cute alien. Look out for this unsung veggie at our market stand this summer.

Farmer Alex's foot + steel beam = lisfranc injury. That means crutches for the next 8 weeks! Feeling bad for our very active and independent farmer. The bright side: more time for planning?
