Sarovara Yoga
Description
Hi, I'm Ally.
I’m a yoga teacher on Pigeon Lake in Bobcaygeon. I teach a variety of styles in the Kripalu Yoga lineage. I lead Yoga Nidra & SUP Yoga. Hi, I'm Ally.
My life's passion is yoga. My studio Sarovara Yoga is overlooking a secluded bay on Pigeon Lake and is conveniently located in Port 32 of Bobcaygeon. In the heart of the Kawartha Lakes, surrounded by water and nature, I lead Kripalu yoga with a focus on mindfulness & meditation. The word ‘Sarovara’ is an ancient Sanskrit word that translates to ‘a body of water deep enough for the lotus flower to bloom’. Classes here always make for some good nature watching – whether it’s otters playing on the ice, herons fishing, beavers swimming across the bay or ospreys diving for fish!
I teach a variety of styles in the Kripalu Yoga lineage. I also lead Yoga Nidra, SUP Yoga and my big project at the moment is my Karma Yoga in the park - Lock 32 Yoga
Thank you for visiting my page. Please contact me if you have any questions. I hope to see you on the mat soon :)

Thank you for allowing me to be a mom. Thank you Audrey for making me a mom. Thank you to my mom. My mom's mom. Thank you to my Deb-mom. My dad's mom. Thank you to all of the mom's of the world. Thank you to all of the maternal beings of the world who nurture in other ways. Our loving, maternal energy is just what the world needs. We are all magical ❤️

I love this quote by @wellnessmama about mothers. It is so true. As moms we have the power to change the trajectory of the energy of this planet. I've been reflecting on how powerful this is as Mother's Day approaches. The shift in consciousness that is taking place is huge and as each of us heals our own wounds, works through our shadows and ancestral imprints, we also become more and more aware of our children's true nature....this is shifting the whole planet towards a higher vibration of health, love and harmony. It's easier to nurture and build strong children then it is to fix broken adults. We have such a huge responsibility as moms to not only nurture our children in their true nature, not what we project or expect them to be, to understand their energy and uniqueness, but also to shift our relationship to the planet in a major way for the very safety of our wee one's futures. My favourite resources for mothering and truly understanding children have been "The Conscious Parent" by @drshefalitsabary and "The Child Whisperer" by @caroltuttle - has anyone else read these books!!?! I love them. Please let me know what you think of them. I think they are game changers that every mom should read!!!! 👩👧👦

When the wee one is napping occasionally I take a break from all the household things and all of the entrepreneurial things and all the course planning things and personal development things and the social media (🤓) things and just curl up with an old favourite.

Chemical free cleaners: I had so many comments asking about our recipes so I am going to post them all over the next little while! This one is Jay's creation. Admittedly, he is way better at inventing them then I am. He always picks the best scent combos too. I keep all of my recipes organized in our google docs so that all of our household cleaners, bath/hygiene products, food, baking, etc are all easy to find without any clutter of keeping recipes in paper form. This one is: All Purpose Cleaner - Sweet Lavender Lime 2 oz Isopropyl Alcohol 2 oz Vinegar Lime essential Oil 8 drops Lavender essential Oil 5 drops Sweet Orange Essential Oil 5 drops 8 oz Water I tried to tag everyone who was interested in hearing about the recipes. I will post more over the next week or so! Please tag anyone that may find this recipe helpful. Also- yes, I sell the glass containers at the studio but NOT the spray nozzles. You have to save them from cleaners or get them from family and collect them 😊

One of my biggest challenges (besides potato chips) has been "on-the-go-mom" organization skills for reducing waste outside of our home. I'm getting better and better with remembering to bring my #zerowaste items with me, planning ahead and efficiently doing everything needed to be prepared to NOT produce garbage when I'm out there in the real world. One thing that's always been easy is Audrey's snacks. Other things require a bit more diligence and remembering skills 😋 #babysteps

I love breastfeeding. We've had our challenges along the way and if I'm honest I thought she would have weaned herself by now. It can be hard at times with a toddler. Me and my sisters all weaned ourselves before a year and many, many of my friends and families littles weaned themselves before two years. For whatever reason, she's just not ready and that's ok. I know that I will miss this when it's over, even if sometimes it can be hard. Sometimes things unfold differently than you think they will. I'm trying not to let the inevitable opinions of others that come along with their natural human tendencies to get to me. We sometimes can run old beliefs or cling to beliefs and therefore when someone does something differently then we would do it creates aversions. I get that. I'm currently trusting the process and going with the flow. I know things will unfold how they should for our own personal journey. ❤️ Also, thank you @ashnaylerphotography for stopping these moments in time for me. Best Mother's Day gift. Photos with your Little ones. No purchasing of MORE STUFF/CLUTTER needed 😊❤️

These little guys were made from @ohsheglows banana bread recipe and they were a massive hit. What recipe of hers isn't though? I highly recommend 👌🏼

Cleaning. This was one of the first things I tackled when switching to natural household products. I felt like I was paying a lot of money for green products that didn't necessarily work that well, that also still had some unidentifiable ingredients in them, that also created recycling which we've been trying to reduce as much as possible. These glass bottles have solved that little problem. The spray nozzles I saved from old cleaning products I bought. These are the only cleaners we seem to need in our home. We could really go down to 3. Let me know if you want any of the recipes. There are 3 different multipurpose cleaners (for various scents) and a leather cleaner and a window cleaner. They all smell INCREDIBLE. 😊

This has been my motto every step of the way in regards to reducing our impact through #zerowaste concepts and embracing more #plantbased meals. For some people it's all or nothing and that's ok. For us, it's been baby steps in a certain direction over time. This leaves little space for judgement towards ourselves for "getting it wrong" or any sense of judgement towards others for their own unique lifestyles. I'm actually shocked as sometimes it feels more like we're regressing than moving forward but then when I really look at how far we've come over time, our lifestyle is completely different. It feels good. It's way less strenuous on the environment then it used to be. It feels more aligned with our truth. It's definitely good for the soul. It keeps me excited about progress and the future #babysteps #progressnotperfection

SUCCESS. My website is back up and running. Sorry for all of the inconveniences that this little technical hiccup has caused. I'm relieved that sarovarayoga.ca is back online. Thanks for your patience everyone! UPDATE: My facebook page messaging is still not working (for over a week) and doesn't seem to be resolving itself so looks like I may have to do some inquiring into that. In the mean time please contact me via my email or phone. Thank you!!! <3
