It is that time of year again and it's early this year! Foster homes are needed! We are starting to see mamas and kittens coming in, though they are too young for adoption yet. Soon to follow will be pregnant queens, and as always, orphaned kittens from a few days to a few weeks old that need foster homes. Pictured here is a newborn kitten found outside today who is already nursing well and safely taken care of. It is ultimately better for their health and socialization to be placed into foster homes until the age of 8 weeks. As well, when very young, kittens need to be fed around the clock every 2-3 hours at first, if they are orphaned. This is just not something we can do at the shelter for them. If interested in fostering this year, please contact us at 613-968-4673, or though qhs@quintehumanesociety.com, or stop by to fill out our foster home application. It is also now available online at https://quintehumanesociety.com/foster-program.php One can also be sent to you via email to print, fill out, and return to us. We are open Monday to Saturday 12-5 and Sundays 1-4. If you are already on our approved list, please simply follow up with us through phone or email, letting us know you have a foster application with us already, or have fostered before. We supply everything you need, you just supply the care and love! We remain responsible for any vetting, send you home with any equipment needed and all supplies from a litterbox to food. You simply come in when you need more supplies, or when the kittens are required to be seen by staff for their next deworming treatment, etc. We are also in search of kitten supplies to build foster kits. Most importantly, KMR (kitten milk replacer) to send home with ones not yet weaned. You can buy the cans of powder which are the best value, at most pet stores and vets. Also needed are nursing bottles found at the same locations, smaller litter pans/pans with lower sides, so wee ones can climb in and out. Heating pads that do not shut off, or the microwavable discs are in high demand. Kittens under a few weeks of age need to be kept warm around the clock if they are orphaned. Small bags of litter to send home with them would also be appreciated! Some of these items can be found on our Amazon wish list for those of you that are not local or do not drive and wish to donate. Otherwise all of our local vets and pet stores can supply the items we have listed above. :) https://www.amazon.ca/gp/registry/wishlist/1XS8XBY33U7VS

Happy 11th Birthday to Kennedie! She asked for donations for our animals instead of gifts, and donated a TON of new toys, blankets, food bowls, treats, and beds for the cats and dogs. <3

Scarlett stopped by the shelter to visit the animals and donate much needed towels, food, toys, and paper towel! She also raised some money to donate and all of her donations were in lieu of birthday gifts for her 6th birthday! Thanks Scarlett <3

Makayla also dropped in for a visit and a cozy snuggle with some of our adoptable kitties. She raised money with her friends to donate. Just because...best kind of just because, helping out the animals waiting for their new homes. <3
