The Dangers Of Food Irradiation
Just one of many references http://www.rense.com/general81/foodr.htm
My previous Post re: Food Irradiation for Passionfruit. The very fact that HIA wants to look at it, is an indictment of their Management. It shows a complete lack of knowledge about the dangers to living systems of exposure to Radiation. Once again this is a Technology looking for a Problem, and it is Wrong. This comes down to lack of Knowledge and Training, and that comes from our hopeless Tertiary Education System; especially in relation to the Production, Handling and Marketing of Harvestable Crops. Has anyone asked the housewives of NZ if they would like to eat Irradiated Food?

Food Irradiation is a Bad Idea. Outrage at this. Back in the day when my generation started exploring other Asian cultures Japanese Macrobiotics became a bit of a thing. The commonsense approach meant eating in season, locally grown, fresh produce. Food miles wasn't even a possibility. This leads me to HIA (not Housing Industry Australia). Horticultural Innovation Australia. They are calling for Expressions of Interest into the possibility of Irradiating Australian Grown Passionfruit for Export to New Zealand. Yep. NZ needs Our Passionfruit so badly that somebody thinks it OK to Zap them with Nuclear Radiation before sending them across the Tasman Sea. I have a lot more to say about this. If I can find my 1990 Postharvest Assignment on Food Irradiation, I will ask my Website Manager Lionel Thomas to Post it on www.Cropsandgardens.com.au In the meantime let's hope the proponents catch up with the reality that this is a Bad Idea
