Founded by the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart in 1931, the College began as a boarding school for boys with a total enrolment of 68.

Downlands is Queensland's only independent Catholic, coeducational, day and boarding school. The school has an enrolment of approximately 290 boarders from regional Queensland, interstate and overseas and also provides casual boarding to its day students.

The first 40 instruments for our new Year 5 and 6 Instrumental Music Immersion program in 2018 arrived today. Every Year 5 and 6 student next year will learn either a band or string instrument as part of our music curriculum. This is yet another exciting addition to our diverse range of primary learning opportunities.

Family and friends gathered in the Graham Centre to farewell our graduating seniors at their Valedictory Mass on Saturday 18 November. The OWR Surveyors Derby Day at Downlands was held on our beautiful sun dappled front lawns on Saturday 4 November. With Fashions on the Field, live races on a big screen, delicious canapés by Marc Kennedy of the catering company ‘Two Fat Chefs’ and live music by local identities 'The Hobsons’ – it was a wonderful day, enjoyed by all in attendance. A huge thank you to the Downlands College Sports Supporters for organising such a fabulous community event!
