Telephone counselling WORKS... for so many reasons these are just some.... -able to share from the comfort of your own lounge -able to share freely and openly in your PJ's -able to have a chat when even getting out of bed is a challenge -not 'seen to walk in a counselling office" (many people DONT want others to know that they are seeking help) -out of hours chat of up to 30 mins.... A phone call can make all the difference.... leading up to the Easter Holidays .. call to organise your TELEPHONE appointment... it will enrich you....

The sad report by 60 minutes last night highlights many of the realities faced by those that are struggling with depression and clearly there is still so much done to address this. Shame or guilt should not be associated with this struggle and we must learn to cover it with Love and Grace.... let's chat if this rings true for you or anyone you know.... go gently !

Many clients have remarked that they had a bad experience with counsellors in the past and the comments that stand out the most are. * I feel like they want to find whats "wrong" with me! * I feel that I spend the whole session speaking about my issues and then TIMES up and I get nothing out of it except I have to make another booking * I was told that I am just "seeking attention" and even if was true i was embarrassed in front on my partner. * I feel like even though I am better 'they' always find something else wrong with me. THESE comments are a disgrace and unfortunately the way that many mental health professionals are perceived because surely it cannot be their intent to make people feel this way when things are already HARD. I started the Friendship Centre to be a counselling and caring ear to the community, to encourage, mentor and guide people along the path they choose to follow. We don't want to find what is WRONG with anyone but seek to find what is so RIGHT about each person we meet. WE LOVE HUMANS.... We want to help....
