So here is an installation that we have just done. If you look very carefully at these 2 photographs, you will notice that the metal box that contains the time switch and the power outlets and the controls for the salt chlorinator are at the front, so you can easily see them and reach them! Now there's an idea! Why don't other pool builders do this?

If your salt chlorinator looks like this.....panic....throw your arms in the air, run around in circles shouting "Mama Mia" ( If you are Italian ) "Mein Got" ( If you are originally from Germany) or "Jeez, fair sick o the sav" (if your an indigenous Queenslander) or just call me and I'll come and sort it out for you. Ok so I've been mentioning the simplest of things to help you keep your pool in top tip condition, typing up water levels in summer, cleaning the skimmer box basket so that the pump doesn't have to try and stuck water through 300 tons of gunk! There is another basket in the pump that needs to be checked too. Remember, the more gunge you're pump has to encounter, the shorter is life.
A couple of days ago I posted the importance of keeping the water level in your pool typed up over summer due to evaporation to at least halfway over your skimmer box. The second most important thing about keeping your pool healthy is also just as simple. Make sure you are regularly emptying all the leaves from your skimmer basket! The number of pools I visit daily whet the pump struggles to stuck water through tons of gunge in the skimmer box and the pump basket too!
As we come into summer, the necessity for pool maintenance increases, just remember this one simple rule to give your pool a chance to stay healthy. Keep the water level at least halfway over the skimmer box hole. If the pump cannot suck water, and only air, it will destroy the pump, very costly to replace. And so easy to keep your eye on the water level. The number of pools I see in one day with low water due to evaporation is ridiculous!
My god I've seen some shoddy pool installations today. It doesnt matter who installs your pool, just as long as you make sure they install control valves and control equipment in a position anyone can actually reach with ease! Today's pools were installed by a nutcase!
