Major Pennants Update!!! "Close but no cigar" Unfortunately the team has missed out on qualifying for the finals this year by a single match over the 6 week round robin competition. For the guys the 4-3 victory against Hurstville was bitter sweet, with results from other teams deciding the semi-final positions for 2, 3, 4 by games. The team will march on and be better next year and as the team manager Marcelo pointed out; "It's not too often you win all your home games, and one away and miss out on a chance at a semi-final!" We are hopeful next year Golf NSW consult with the golf clubs in advance to allow a more equitable competition as this year saw 10 teams playing off in the division.

Major Pennants Update!!! The Georges River team was successful in their latest match against Kareela on Sunday winning 4-3 away from home. There were some close matches, with the result of the day coming down to Stewart Pearson's match at #2 after saving par to win the 17th hole, then putting his approach to four feet on the 18th and sinking the putt to win 2up! With the semi-finals in sight the team looks forward to a good showing against Hurstville at Georges River this Sunday, a win most likely to secure a position in the semi-finals!!! How good is the course at the moment !
Major Pennants Update!!! The team ventured to a very wet Strathfield Golf Club on Sunday. The course is currently under renovation which saw many of the holes out of play with composite holes substituted and the Strathfield locals persevered with a 5-2 win. Our current club champion Stewart Pearson, and Kieran Mannix both scored excellent wins away from home in trying and unfamiliar conditions - well done! Heading to Kareela for the second last match it is getting very tight on the leaderboard with only one team banking 3 wins. The semi-finals will be decided by games won/lost and 2 games cover 6 teams!!! We wish the boys the best of luck for their final 'away' match this Sunday!!

It's tight at the top of the Major Pennants table! On Saturday our team played Gordon away from home and in challenging conditions went down 5&1/2 to 1&1/2. With the weather having set in on the north side of Sydney the team found the tight course challenging, with most games see-sawing between the players. The final scoreline was not indicative of the matches with 4 being decided on the 18th hole! With much better conditions likely at Strathfield the team is looking to bounce back and head back to the top of the ladder!
