Petrol 200 series? Here's another detailed testimonial on 95(min)-98 ron remap. ------------------------ I would say my normal consumption on 91 ULP is 15.2/15.5. On the way back from your workshop to Gippsland, on 98RON , I did 650km @ 14.7 on mixed hilly backroads and hwy. Next tank was 98RON, an I did 407km of driving from Gippy, over Omeo and the Bogong highplains, including a few drives up and down the hill (1400m) between Falls creek and Mount Beauty, then down to Albury. I managed 16.5. Next tank was 95RON, 600km of 110km/hr flat driving across NSW to Nyngan, which resulted in 13.9. (Down from 15.x) ------------ In summary of the first couple of tanks, the torque appears greatly improved. It's good to feel the engine just keep pulling up hills, particularly long gradual hills. The tranny shifts sharply back to 4th, then stays there, rather than hunting back and forth as it used too. Not sure I understand exactly why, since you weren't able to modify the shifting directly. (Load and other proprietary maps do change this in the petrol 200 series ecm) I presume that essentially the additional advance in the ignition curve is simply yielding more power (yes and no, there is more to this) The hill climb in 4th is sensational. I did notice the water temp creep up to 92 degrees on my scanguage, climbing up one of the monster hill on the way up to Omeo. I've never seen it above 90, so I presume it's working harder. (More torque more temp, this can be reduced if increasing fuel input) Undulating terrain or sudden hills still presents an issue. I should be clear that my major issue is when I'm using cruise control. Under my right foot I find the machine very controllable, but when driving 1000km days on basically flat straight roads, I want to be able to let cruise do the work. The sudden load application as either a steep hill is reached causes the immediate kickback of gears. If, one day, you are able to dampen the cruise control, or fatten it's tolerance to speed drop, I would be eternally grateful. The sharpness on take-off is spot-on, and vastly improved. The acceleration in winding or in town driving is hard to resist. The call of the accelerator is strong, and noticeably improved. The use of the Richards torque converter lockup has remained the same. I wouldn't be without it on windy and steep roads. Particularly the ability to lockup in second and third under manual control, but also on the speed selected (+75kmhr) setting. I find that I do get abrupt downshifts from 5th to 4th if you aren't paying attention, so I turn the lockup off when the better half is at the helm. The tranny seems to hold in gear much longer and avoid partial unlock for a long time after disengaging the lockup. It's like it learns and remembers to stay locked up, but then gradually re-learns to slip at the drop of a hat. -------- All in all I'm very happy with your work. Time will tell if the dollars per km are worth it, given the relative scarcity and price of premium out here, but the litres of consumption are well down, so we're headed in the right direction.
