Practising in the heart of Newcastle, Riina's mission is to inspire self care, body awareness and radiant health through massage therapy. Riina Kosonen is a Finnish-born, Newcastle-based remedial massage therapist who loves to support people on their journey to wellness.

Riina is a keen advocate of healthy living, nutrition and holistic therapies, all which have played an important part in her own path to health. She has a special interest in women’s health as well as encouraging positive body image, self care and healthy lifestyle choices through massage therapy.

Riina graduated from Endeavour College in Melbourne in 2012, and has since completed a certificate in Pregnancy Massage as well as received further training and mentoring from leading experts in her field. She has several years of experience in clinical and corporate massage, and treats a wide range of complaints from headaches, neck shoulder and back pain, arthritis, sciatica, sport injuries, pregnancy related discomforts to PMS, anxiety, sleep problems and more.

In her treatments Riina often combines a variety of massage techniques, joint mobilisation, myofascial and triggerpoint techniques, pelvic realignment, Pyonex press needling, cupping, stretching as well as breathing and mindfulness exercises.

Riina is fully insured and registered with majority of Private Health funds.

I just find it a bit tacky and forced. In Finland we call Valentines day Friends/Friendship Day and it's more about showing your love and appreciation to ALL your loved ones, not just your lover/spouse, but your friends aswell. I really like THAT concept. I'm all for showing LOVE, kindness and gratitude towards each other. For telling people what they mean to us and how much joy they bring into our life. Hey guys, I'm so excited about my kombucha experience! I grew the scoby/fungus/awesome-fermenting-agent from scratch (it's the lighter, floaty bit in the jar!) and now it is turning plain black tea sweetened with raw sugar into the yummiest, healthiest probiotic drink! If you haven't heard of kombucha, it is basically a fermented drink (it's been around for over 2000 yrs) that has many health benefits, such as detoxing the body, aiding digestion, increasing energy and immune health, great for JOINT health due to the glucosamine in it.... the list goes on and on. If you haven't tried it yet, you really should! You'll love it!!!! And your body will too. Ask me for more info if you're interested. I'm happy to share this great "recipe". 😍😍😍😍

I have rediscovered my local library and I'm so excited about all these books I'm finding and loving!! These hot summer weekends and evenings are just perfect for reading under a shady tree or infront of the fan!😁 Here's what's inspiring me at the moment: + the art of frugal hedonism (fantastic book on how to enjoy life more whilst treating this precious planet ours a bit kinder. Read it. SO good.) + animal, vegetable, miracle by barbara kingsolver (a family's year of self sufficient farm living) + a weed foragers handbook (can you spot a reoccurring theme here???) :) + the art of belonging (social analysis of community centered living... im yet to dive into this one) + wild fermentation by sandor katz (sauerkraut, kimchi, sourdough, mmmmmhhh) + craft for the soul by pip lincolne (just lovely. living well and true to you) + paint lab for the kids (maybe I'm a kid at heart as I find this super inspirational!)
