Riovana was started by Badi Bayly, with the students and instructors of Mudhra zouk, with the blessing of the Founder and principal dancer of Mudhra Dance Company, Premala Sangarananda. Riovana keeps the training and core principles of zouk taught and cultured by Premala, and this can be seen in the care and attention given to the dancers. This ensures not only an exciting and ever-changing format of dance, but an environment of attention to detail.
Riovana is also proud to introduce UrbanZouk. UrbanZouk is a format and template to expand from both directions of hip-hop and Brazilian zouk, to a fusion of both styles. It incorporated moves, concepts and principals of both genre's to allow the dancer to chose his/her form of movement. This gives rise to an exciting, expressive and entertaining form of creativity.
In 2014 Riovana is proud to introduce Bachata classes in WA. With strong Caribbean style from it Dominican heritage, Bachata brings a combination of heat and playfulness, not usually found in the Latin dance scene. Once the core fundamentals of bachata have been covered, students are encouraged to expand and enhance their repertoire by incorporating the flavours of bachata sensual, and urban bachata.
