Theres always 2 sides to the story. In reality though sometimes the truth depends on what people 'want' to hear given the years of marketing hype and propaganda by those not really qualified to make such important decisions who do so not based on facts, but are masters of manipulating opinions based on emotions and fear to extract more money from the uneducated consumer. In a world of 7 billion people The 'truth' is either we embrace new technologies or we destroy our environment by default even if our intentions were good albiet a little misplaced by deceptive marketers. You could always reduce the population I guess but if we do take agriculture back into the last century thats a predetermined fate anyway. In a loose way Its actually happened before and we were already saved by science once when we exploited agricultural land basically running out of available nitrogen. That was at 1 billion people in 1908. What saved us then? Science and a chemist named Fritz Haber who developed a method of fixing nitrogen from the atmosphere. Why are we trying now to go backwards? Look it up.
