SAFE Kununurra
Description
SAFE (Saving Animals From Euthanasia) is a voluntary organisation and we aim to rehome as many stray dogs and cats as we can into loving and happy homes. SAFE Kununurra has closed its doors but the lovely ladies at Kimberley Wildlife Rescue will also be looking after domestic animals.
If you find any stray dogs the first thing to do is contact the Shire Ranger on 9168 4166 (diverts to ranger on call) 24/7. They will look after them in the first instance and if an owner isn't found, will then organise for Kimberley Rescue to become involved.
Kimberley Rescue can be contacted via Kimberley Vet Centre on 08 9169 1229

A HUGE THANK YOU! SAFE Kununurra needs to thank a quite a few people / groups that have been such an amazing support system for us, we could not have done it without you. Firstly, the wonderful ladies at the Kimberley Vet Centre who from day one have supported and encouraged us to no end. We thank you all for your dedication to our beautiful 4 legged furry friends. Keep up the amazing work and brightening everyone's lives with your smiles. Next are the hard working Shire Rangers who hands down have one of the toughest jobs around! You guys have been a pleasure to work with and thank you for playing your part in finding the animals deserving homes. You all do so much selfless work in keeping Kununurra a safer place for everyone (animals included) and you all deserve a huge pat on the back! To all our amazing foster carers, thank you for taking the time to accept all the precious souls into your homes and hearts while they waited for their perfect family to come along! (For some of you that just happened to be your own family) It is a really hard task to love a creature like it is your own knowing that they will leave you one day, but you all have done an amazing job and you truly are the backbone of the entire organisation, Without you there would be no SAFE so from the bottom of our hearts we and the animals thank you! To all the people who have adopted one of our wonderful “Kimberley Specials”, thank you and I know that you have not been disappointed! Our Kimberley critters really have something special about them and I hope you all feel blessed to have them in your lives now! It is an amazing thing to adopt a rescue animal and they will be eternally grateful for your act of kindness. Last but not least a HUGE thank you to Kirstie, Kiah and Natalie for your countless hours of work and dedication to all things SAFE. Running a non for profit organisation is no easy feat but with this solid core team we have made it possible. Again we thank everyone for their support over the last couple of years, we have had a blast!!

SAFE KUNUNURRA TO CLOSE but KIMBERLEY WILDLIFE to the RESCUE! It is with a heavy heart and saddened soul that we have to announce the end of SAFE Kununurra. It has been an EPIC journey over the past 2 and a half years that has seen tremendous ups and a few downs. We have succeeded in rehoming over 120 puppies/dogs and over 30 kittens and cats. Unfortunately though it has come to an end as we have struggled to find the support we need to keep SAFE running. We have a lot of thank you’s to make so we will be putting up a separate post to do that! Now going forward, the good news is that while SAFE will be closing their Kununurra branch we have not given up on saving the animals. All future enquiries regarding homeless dogs and cats please contact the lovely ladies at the vet centre on 9169 1229. The not for profit organisation - Kimberley Wildlife Rescue - has graciously agreed to take on the responsibility of domestic animals as well! Please, if you are interested in fostering any animals we still need your help! Please contact the vet centre to become a foster carer or offer any help at all, it is always much appreciated. Tying up loose ends with SAFE we still have 4 dogs (images below) that are waiting on their forever families! We have decided to re home these remaining dogs for free….that means NO ADOPTION FEE! Yay! All of the dogs have been wormed, vaccinated, microchipped, desexed, and shire registered. *Update - Joey and Mack have been adopted* :) Please, if you have room in your home for a deserving soul, let us know so you can meet one of these amazing animals.

Pokey is smiling and so she should be!! At last she has found her special home but we need help to get her there... She needs to fly to Perth! Due to her height she MUST fly Qantas.... ARE YOU FLYING QANTAS TO PERTH??? If yes, you help Pokey get to her new family! She needs to fly accompanied meaning: You will need to call and book her on with you ticket (SAFE will cover cost of her flying with you) Once in Perth you need to sign her out from freight terminal and meet her new family who are excitedly awaiting her arrival.... It is that simple to make a HUGE difference and help her get home!!

It's recieving messages like this and knowing we have saved yet another life that makes being a volunteer with SAFE so rewarding. Speck flew to Perth to meet his new family recently and we were so delighted to see this message from his new family. Hi Sorry it's taken us a while to message, just been busy with our new family member! We just wanted to say thanks so much for getting speck down to us, we are so grateful and happy, we just adore him! Call us on 0475 706 387 to see how you can help Save Animals From Euthanasia.
