Good afternoon all, I have been advised that Peter Penny (ex WOSN / ATA) is currently undergoing palliative care in Clare Holland House in Canberra and is not expected to return home. I have spoken to his wife Deidre and she has indicated he is on morphine to relieve his pain and he is not expected to last much longer based on his current condition which has deteriorated rapidly over the last few days. Congratulations to one of our FAA Association members, CMDR Geoff Fiedler, for his award of an OAM in the Military Division of the 2017 Australia Day honours list. BZ Geoff. Citation reads as follows: Commander Geoffrey Norman FIEDLER RAN, USA. For meritorious performance of duty in the field of Navy liaison and communication with higher Headquarters, Ministers and Government. Commander Fiedler has provided meritorious service to Navy over many years. In particular, his achievements as the Director of Navy Ministerials and Coordination have been exemplary. His loyal dedication, exceptional professionalism and outstanding leadership skills have inspired long lasting improvement in the quality of ministerial correspondence within the Royal Australian Navy and delivered a critically constructive effect upon ministerial reporting and communication.

Gents, for those who would like to attend, the funeral for Terry Slocum will be held in Perth on Tuesday 31st January 2017 @ 1230hrs at the Karrakatta Cemetry, Karrakatta.Terry's family have requested "wear no black, Hawaiian shirts recommended". There will be a wake to follow @ 1430, venue TBA.
