Bujinkan Yoroi Kumiuchi
True Budo and Warriors developed during the Warring States Period ( Sengoku Jidai ). All modern forms of budo evolved from the techniques devised for, or founded on the battlefield. Unfortunately, many modern arts have chosen to specialise in a particular weapon such as schools of Iaido,Jodo etc. In ancient times, warriors were required to learn all aspects of fighting. If ones weapon was lost or broken, then this was a weakness if the warrior had no other skills. To study the true ways of the warriors and martial arts of old, we must study and practice the techniques in yoroi. Many arts in the modern era have bad shinken sabaki ( live blade movement ) because they are sports and do not consider the various distances of many weapons. The base of wielding heavy battlefield weapons while in yoroi is defined by skillfull use of the body ( taijutsu ). If ones budo taijutsu is correct, one can utilise and move freely with any weapon, on any terrain, and in any type of clothing. This is Bujutsu. This is the Bujinkan.
