As many of us return to work tomorrow lamenting the luxury and freedom that holidays afford us, let's focus our attitude towards how we can keep that "holiday feeling". What was it about being off work (besides more time) that enabled you to more positively connect with yourself and your loved ones? What can you promise to keep doing as you settle back into work-life routine? Perhaps it's enjoying nature more, eating meals together as a ritual, or prioritising small pockets of time each day to focus on fun. Whatever it is, wishing you empowerment, energy and enrichment as you approach the year ahead.

Babies' Mental Health Matters
A superbly articulated article about the importance of infant mental health. It matters, therefore, your mental health as a caregiver matters too.

Teachers, I have the upmost respect for you. The holidays you have so desperately earned are only a day or two away. Please don't ever lose sight of the bigger picture - that all those extra hours you put in, the additional effort you consistently make, the small but many things you do that take hours and grit, are contributing to a better life for your students. Remaining engaged in education is one of the biggest protective factors against risk, which means that what you do makes a difference. I only hope that one day, teachers are recognised and remunerated for the pivotal role they play in shaping our future generations. In the meantime, keep killing it and don't forget to smile. Thanks to @glennondoylemelton for articulating it so beautifully.

Historically, the responsibility of raising children was shared with extended family and communities. More recently, however, parents are viewed as solely responsible for caring for their children. As a result, parents can feel judged, blamed and isolated when things aren't working out as expected. I encourage you to seek support from friends, family, professionals, education settings, and dedicated services that are here to help you learn and grow together. It's the job of the communities around you, and those within them, to share the responsibility. We all have a significant role to play in raising great kids.

If you know a child with tricky-to-manage behaviours, why not try using superheroes as an example? Teach children important lessons about what's appropriate and inappropriate by reminding them that all their favourite and well-known superhero characters typically HELP, NOT HURT. And if they do hurt somebody, they show remorse, apologise and try better next time. 👊🏽🏅💕
