"Hello again Barbie. What's been happening." Barbie: "Lots. Term One has come to an end. We learnt so much - Two sets of Baduanjin, Shibashi 1, Dayan Patting Form and The Lotus as well as various joint warm up exercises. Ken and I are looking forward to Term Two which starts after Anzac Day. Helen tells us that we are going to start learning the Tai Chi set now that we have a basic understanding of qi, meridians, different acupoints and body movement. It should be fun." "What move are you and Ken doing at the moment?" Barbie: "It's called Painting a Rainbow from Shibashi 1. It is good for digestion, relieving gastric ulcers and stomach ache. It can also help loosen up the shoulder area and reduce shoulder pain. The same movement is also in one of the closing sets where it is called "and paints a rainbow across the sky." "Thanks Barbie. Oh, and happy practising."

"We haven't heard from you for a while, Barbie. What have you been doing?" Barbie: "Ken and I have been at a Meditation Retreat where we learnt all sorts of things. One that I thought interesting was when the palm and fingers wrap the knee, there are six specific points of alignment/engagement between the palm, fingers and acupuncture points on the knees. This gives a different feel to whatever meditation you are doing. One of the simplest meditations we learnt was the Inner Heavenly Circuit, also called Microcosmic Orbit. This was where you visualise taking your qi up your back, over the head and down the front and then around again. This follows the Conception and Governing Vessels - bringing the energy from heaven and earth. In Small Heavenly Roll from Shibashi 2 this is what we are doing. Where the mind goes, the qi will follow." "Sounds like you learnt quite a lot. I wouldn't mind going to a retreat myself."
All the classes are going well, with a mix of new and old students. Classes are held at St. John's Parish Centre, Federation Avenue, Corowa on Wednesdays at 9.30am and 6.00pm. In Albury, it is at the Assembly Hall of the Albury Public School, Smollett Street on Thursdays at 6.00pm. All welcome.

Barbie: This week I learnt Stepping and Bouncing a Ball from the Shibashi 1 Qigong set. The exercise improves co-ordination and balance and leaves you feeling invigorated. It works both hemispheres of the brain as you are working both sides of the body at the same time. Ken is doing it differently to you. Why is that? Barbie: Ken isn't very co-ordinated yet, but he will improve.
