South Solitary Island
Description
Located 18kms from Coffs Harbour. Only one of two island lighthouses in NSW. Restricted access to the island, buildings built in 1880-the oldest in the area. Island abandoned in 1975 when automated, now under the care of National Parks & Wildlife. Tours to the island are held just once a year with Precision Helicopters and National Parks and Wildlife.
Access to the island is restricted, have a guided tour through the Keeper's Quarters and Lighthouse. Limited tickets available, contact info@southsolitaryisland.com.au or 02 6652 9988

Lighthouse Tour - Helicopter Flight & Walking Tour
South Solitary Island is located 18kms off shore from Coffs Harbour, NSW. The island is only opened to visitors once a year for two weekends. The lighthouse and keepers quarters were built in 1880 are the oldest in the area, the lighthouse was automated in 1975 with all residents leaving the island. The only way to access the island is by helicopter and public access is restricted to these open days only. Included in this fantastic offer is an interpretive guided walking tour for one or two hours by National Parks and Wildlife Rangers and return helicopter flights. This guided tour offers a rare opportunity to explore the lifestyle of a remote lighthouse keeper as you to inspect the living quarters and imagine life on this isolated outpost.
