Coburg Physiotherapy Centre Coburg Physiotherapy Centre is a private Physiotherapy practice in the inner northern suburbs of Melbourne.  We have been established for over 30 years and cater for the whole family in all aspects of Physiotherapy.  This means we treat back and neck pain, headaches, joint sprains, muscle strains, pre-or post-surgical rehabilitation as well as a host of other conditions; whether they are from injuries on the sporting field or at work, pregnancy-related pain or general wear and tear.

As a Spinal Management Clinic of Victoria, we provide Functional Restoration programs for patients under WorkCover and TAC, and we are an affiliate of LifeCare Health and their many Physiotherapy and Sports Medicine clinics throughout Australia.

As well as using HiCAPS so our patients can claim an instant rebate through their health insurer, we are preferred providers for numerous health funds which include Medibank Private, MBF and BUPA (HBA) and are registered providers for the HCF More for Muscles program; this means we can provide our patients with a higher rebate.  We also treat patients under Medicare Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) plans and Department of Veteran Affairs (DVA) with a referral from your local GP.

We pride ourselves on the excellent care and service that we provide, being accessible to our patients from 8:30am to 7pm weekdays and 9am to 12pm Saturdays, and having the ability to treat patients requiring immediate attention.  With the versatility of our practitioners we combine our collective 50 years of experience with the latest evidence-based treatment.

One of the most common diagnoses for tennis elbow is tendinopathy of the common extensor tendons of the wrist, which is typically an overuse injury. The muscles that bend the wrist backward connect via a tendon and can become painful after activities such as gripping, pruning and tennis. Many people find that their symptoms continue for months to years if not assessed and treated early. #choosephysio to help to get on top of your tennis elbow early. https://choose.physio/your-body/elbow/tennis-elbow

Coburg Physio is a proud supporter of National Safe Work Month this October! Safe and healthy workplaces benefit everyone, and with work-related injury and disease costing the Australian community $61.8 billion in a year, it’s important that we’re all aware of how we can improve our own work practices. No one should be unsafe or sustain an injury in the workplace. For more info, check out https://www.safeworkaustralia.gov.au/national-safe-work-month

Great write up by the Age about the physical inactivity and the need to think differently about this today; http://bit.ly/2f2IlZN The epidemic of physical inactivity (different to sedentary behaviour, which is specifically too much sitting), is the fourth highest contributor to the total burden of disease and injury in Australia and costs us in excess of $53 billion a year. As a nation we need to make it easier for people to move more and exercise. "Until we get the whole of the country, national level thinking about the different ways we can be active beyond thinking about health and heart disease and diabetes - without thinking outside the box - it's going to be difficult to make headroads."
