Thanks to Yarra Youth Services, the mural in the park opposite our hall is coming along very nicely!
Scouts is back for 2018, with all sections meeting this week on Thursday night for the ultimate section vs. section night. We’ll be pitting the Cubs against the Scouts, and the Rovers against them both to see who’s the Ultimate Scout. This is also a fantastic night to come along and visit the Scout group for the first time, and see whether it might be right for you/ your child - we’re currently open to young people aged 7-25 (15-17 year olds meeting elsewhere), and will be opening up to 5-6 year olds later this year. We’re also always open to new adult helpers and leaders (18+). For more information if you’re visiting for the first time, contact us on gl.carlton@scoutsvictoria.com.au. Wear suitable clothes for running around and appropriate to the weather (we may be outside), and bring a water bottle. We can’t wait to see you there!
Seven days into the new year and we're already back into Scouting! 10 of our Scouts headed off yesterday for a week-long camp with over 1000 other Scouts at Bay Park. Let's hope the heatwave's at its' end!
Our Scouts had a spring in their step as they celebrated (almost) the end of 2018 last night. The troop has doubled in size this past term, and it was fantastic to see so many along for the night.
Will you be joining us tomorrow evening to talk about painting the Shakespeare St Park wall? We can't wait to hear your ideas!
We had another special guest this week - Snax, a Carlton Rover and recent returnee from a year in Japan. She ran an evening for the troop all about Japan 🇯🇵, with lots of fun (and tasty) activities and things to learn. Thanks Snax!
Thanks to special guest visitor Stu, our Scouts last night had some musically inspired fun, with several of them (very impressively) demonstrating their musical prowess.
Two of our Rovers were up early this morning for a trip to Government House to receive their Baden-Powell Scout Awards from the Her Excellency the Hon Linda Dessau, Governor of Victoria. Congratulations Amy and Annie on their achieving the highest award in Australian Rovering!
Last night we invited some friends from the new Port Melbourne Scout Group to join us, putting our culinary skills to the test with a mystery box Masterchef night. The Scouts did a magnificent job, each patrol producing a two course meal using only a trangia stove in just over an hour with a pretty unusual set of ingredients. The food was even edible!
Last night we started thinking about going on a big camp in 2019, to either the Australian Jamboree in SA or the World Scout Jamboree in the US. But before that we got in some good ol’ tug-o-war!
Well, we've all had a week to recover from the adventure that was Cuboree 2017 - which means it's time to check out the photographic evidence of some of our Cubs' highlights!
