Enjoy the colour and spectacle of our Centenary Celebrations. We were honoured with the presence of many very special guests including members from years gone by. It was a time for friends to meet, reminiscing fond memories and sharing in the spirit of Scouting.

Sincere thanks to all who joined us on Saturday and helped make our Centenary Celebrations so very special. We are especially grateful to our Group Leader, Johann "Yok" Anderson who has been the driving force behind our hall renovations and Centenary Celebrations. Yok's peerless dedication to our Group and love of Scouting sets a fine example to all - quite simply, he epitomises the Scout Promise. Thank you Yok!

Another slice of our history: Russell Allan, a former member, shared with us some of his Scouting memorabilia and this reflection "Cubs, Scouts and family support provided an essential basic training for all aspects of life, for which I am eternally grateful.". The first photo shows his investiture in 1963. The Scout Master was Jim Perryman. The second photo is of Russell, in the middle and a Cub at the time, with his brother Frank (Scout) and sister Susan (Guide). The third photo is a hand carved toggle he received, in return for his standard issue leather toggle, from a visiting Canadian Scout Group in 1965.

We are thrilled and honoured to announce Lynette and Marion, daughters of Allen Stanley 'Sarge' Smith will join us for our Centenary Celebrations. The Smith family (Allen, Thelma, Alby, Lynnette, Marion, Neil and Eric) were all involved in Scouting and Guides as seen here in their uniforms.

We are thrilled that our Centenary Celebrations are igniting wonderful memories of happy days gone by at Lynden Park. Thank you to David Rosefield (now living in Canada) for this slice of our history: Those present called it “the mudboree” (Jamboree 1956). It rained for the first 4 days. They brought in a bulldozer to move mud on the parade ground. Wooden sidewalks were laid in the shopping area. We were confined to “barracks” much of the time and I learned the play “strip jack naked” (very poorly … I had to run around the outside of our tent to display my incompetence). The last 3 days however were a heat wave and a dip in a nearby billabong was most welcome. And yes, we did some badge swapping with other attendees, and had a terrific camp fire. It was attended by an aboriginal man who threw his boomerang right around the parade ground and caught it in his hands on its return. Reminiscent of the 2016 Jamboree which experienced similar weather! We would love to hear your stories and receive your photos from the past.
