Recovery of the gardens at HUB 76 - the water is now being trickled around and under the house, filling a series of ponds, some subterranean, in which striped burrowing frogs and green tree frogs are breeding. The night air is filled with their delightful calls. The fact that the water is running constantly keeps mosquitoes away and this means the windows of the house can be kept open all night without insect screens - allowing natural climate control through good ventilation. The pond and flowing streams under the house have the effect of producing excellent acoustics for the HUB Art Gallery and Studios in the house above, using the same principle used in the Sydney Opera House, but gravity fed and for a tiny fraction of the cost.
