And again: Skills, then a game, then Ride!
Hi all!, this week's session is about getting ready for the Walloon camp. Mini-skills setups: #1 log/platform obstacles course #2 cornering/jump and #3 one-handed noodle hunt game Organisation: three groups rotating across all skill sessions, followed by a trail ride for a max of 2X8 kids for the remaining time (depending on attendance, some kids will have to stick to skill course with one coach staying onsite, good practice anyway). DON'T FORGET a current MTBA licence... This is VERY IMPORTANT for insurance and liability purpose. ALSO, WATER, a bit of sunscreen, a cereal bar... Check bike (gears, nothing loose, bit of lub', tyres pressure, etc...) and riding gears (gloves as well!)... A kid with a bike deemed UNSAFE will be sent back...
Hi all, watch this space, this Sunday event to be posted soon. Re Walloon, we shifted the deadline to Tuesday the 16th to give people more time. Registration is stream-lined using either online form or downloaded form via link and email it to kenmorekidsmtb@gmail.com
Dear all, Frank here. Apologies for today! I was ... ahem.... hung over... yep. Not very pro... No pint err no point in making up an excuse. I'll make it up to you I swear! So, just a quick debrief... OMG, I am looking at the photos like you! So many kids! We will have to start thinking bigger? More coaches, split in two sessions: 1:30 to 3 and 3 to 4:30. Dunnow. At that stage we need to cap at 30. For the ride after the skills session, we could do two groups helmed each by1 coach and one parent and 8 kids per group. And one coach staying on skill session at Gap Creek with 14 remaining kids to oversee. that's the best we can do... or we need two more coaches and more sessions! Anyone wants to become Level 0 MTBA coach? Anyhow thank you to James, Adam, Aneta, Natalie, Andrew and all good soul for making this possible!
7/5/17 HUGE TURN OUT! AWESOME KIDS! SUPER FUN!
Skills and Games then Ride!
Please join us this Sunday for another MTB skills session and ride!
Skills and Games then Ride!
Dear all, Last weeks session was great fun, it was great seeing all the kids having fun and making progress on their jumping, skidding control, and slow speed balance skills. For this session, this coming Sunday, we hope to see you all again at Gap Creek! We ran out of time to try the new game using the pool noodle, so we will give it a go this time! In addition, we will be focussing some time on better understanding gear selection and shifting techniques... Probably not as much fun as the ramp and corflute, but an essential skill for MTB riding! Same deal as last weekend with all 3 coaches this time: three rotating groups for a skill session which may be a bit shorter this time, followed by a trail ride for the remaining time.

Cool Kids Skills Session
Some Brilliant Photos of todays skill session
A good session today. Didn't have enough time to try the noodles for the new game Adam proposed. Thank you to all the anonymous benefactors who brought noodles. We have two now, we will use them on the next session. We had a couple of newcomers today, who were all riding like .... seasoned riders!!! Well done Sam, Leila and bro (here for another senior moment), Storm' Hamish. Well done all, I saw some pretty rad recoveries on the corflute front wheel evil Big J idea, you know what I am talking about!!!!. Ramp technique was 60% there. Another 40% to go, yes, still too much yanking on these bars... It's OK... If you have any images or videos (I am talking to you Louisa), please post them! Also one annoucement: Big J, Adam, and I in one of our famous chicken parmo brainstorm session came up with a new idea: MTBA diplomas based on distance/skills/gradient. How about KenmoreKidsMTB famous 3s', Adam's hellish 6s', Big J awesome 8s' and -brace yourself- Franky's stupendous 10s'!!!!! We are finalizing the whole thing. This will give the kids goals to seek, with a nice MTBA certified diploma, a photo and a color coded ribbon to proudly display, coooooool!!!!! And finally, watch this space: Walloon camp to be advertised by Thursday... 20th-21st of May...
