"I'm at Curtin studying journalism and professional writing and publishing. I always enjoyed English and drama in high school and I guess journalism is a pretty great combination of the two, so that's actually why I chose it at the time. I've always loved reading, but now that I write news stories I find myself reading articles and scanning for news happening in Perth, rather than reading books. One day I would love to make a career out of travel writing … or being a journalist in another country would be cool too. Because to be paid to travel and write – I couldn't think of anything better." Meet other #humansofcurtin here: http://bit.ly/2j3F1vl

“From an early age, I’ve been watching films and it’s kind of how my family bonded as well. So it’s always a nice thing to come back to, escaping the world and I love reading so it made sense to do a double major in film and writing. "I started doing nursing. When I left high school I thought that I wouldn’t be able to get a job if I did something creative, but I think once, you realise what you want to do, just stick with it. I prefer to struggle doing what I love than completely hate my future job just because I decided to compromise.” Meet other #humansofcurtin here: http://bit.ly/humansofcurtin

“The moment I finally told my parents I didn't want to go into a scientific field, but rather work in the arts, was very monumental for me. After switching from speech pathology, I'm now studying a double major of theatre arts and screen production, and they couldn't be happier for me knowing it's something I actually want to do! A big highlight so far was when my script was chosen in class to be made into a short film. Just the idea that people read and enjoyed something I wrote is an incredible feeling, because one day I can definitely see myself in the entertainment industry, whether it's writing, directing or performing in some aspect. As long as it's something along those lines, I'll be doing okay.” Meet other #humansofcurtin here: http://bit.ly/2hnZtbn

"I'm in my first year of studying marketing and management, mainly because unlike other degrees I looked into, literally everything about this one looked appealing to me, and maybe I've been influenced by my love to online shop as it involves a lot of heavy marketing. "This is my first semester at Curtin too, as I actually moved to Melbourne after high school and spent 2015 studying fashion design at RMIT. I loved it there, it's such a beautiful city, and I have a new found love for decadent donuts because of it. At the moment I don't have a specific dream job or anything in mind, I just want to love whatever career I end up in and I'll be happy." Meet other #humansofcurtin here: http://bit.ly/2g4R9cA
