Lust auf ein 10 Yr Port? TAWNY PORT Tawny is the color of an owl that lives in the UK. Its feathers have a brown, brick color and so does Port when ages for some time in oak. So we name Tawny Port all Port that ages in oak and develops a nutty, caramel profile due to the slow oxidation. Port gets a Tawny character after some time in cask, meaning that they are not Tawny when they are fortified but after ageing some years. This style of Port Wine varies tremendously depending on the number of years that Port stays in cask. Tawny can be as young as five years and as old as a 40 Years Old.
