OK I finally got Component V up for our Friday enrichment day in Santa Ana! Anyone can join in on these fun end-of-the-year classes! Our last component of online Minecraft classes for this school year start soon! We have American history classes at 10 am on Wednesdays and Leonardo da Vinci classes on Fridays at 10 and noon. All times are Pacific Time. Students are introduced to educational concepts through the medium of the Minecraft game, led by a our Minecraft administrator. Announcing Celebration Education's theme for 2018-2019: Heroes! Students who participate in the year-long theme will learn from the hero's journey in five classic stories, as we integrate all school subjects into the fun hands-on activities each week! Next week's fireworks! Topic: Birds and Horses as Models Take horse-riding lessons. Take a look at the collective nouns to describe bird flocks: https://www.thespruce.com/flock-names-of-groups-of-birds-386827 Write a story about the various flocks of birds, using the appropriate collective nouns. Let someone else read your story. Can they figure out what types of birds your story is about? Sculpt a horse 3 or 4 times life size. Make a model of a horse that is ½ the size of a real one. Start a feather collection. Identify and catalog the birds they come from. Make a life-size diagram that shows various bird wingspans. Work on your genius project. Play math games. Observe how different birds fly. Why does one bird flap its wings more than another? Sketch flying birds in your notebook and write your comments about each. Many stories have been written about horses. Write one of your own. Every state has a state bird. What is your state’s bird? If you had your own state, what would you chosse as your state bird? Write this in your notebook. Explain why you would choose that bird. What creatures or things fascinate you? Spend some extra time observing and sketching those things. Record each different kind of bird you see. How many can you notice? You may want to fill out a journal page for each kind of bird you see.
