Today, we made it 26 years in a row. Plant manager Brook Vickery presented a $58,000 check to event organizers and volunteers. Money raised from the January 26th event will help support the hospital’s mission of offering hope and healing to their patients.
FHR Corpus Christi employees recently welcomed choir students from Oak Park Elementary who came Christmas caroling. Smiling faces and Christmas classics made for a cheerful afternoon and put everyone in the holiday spirit. Happy holidays from FHR!
The FHR Corpus Christi cooking team was hard at work recently at the annual Special Olympics Benefit Golf Tournament. FHR was the presenting sponsor for this popular Corpus Christi charity event.
FHR Corpus Christi employees spent the past Sunday morning cooking breakfast for families staying at the local Ronald McDonald house. Share-a-meal with families is quickly becoming a favorite event for our volunteers.
Employees of Flint Hills Resources Joliet are constantly donating their time and resources to the community. Earlier this week, a generous group volunteered their time to prepare and serve dinner to homeless members of the community and had a little fun doing so!
Today, we are thrilled to donate Minnesota’s first car fire simulator to fire departments in Dakota County. For many years to come, firefighters in Dakota County will be able to practice putting out car fires in a controlled, safe and environmentally responsible way.
This Thanksgiving we would like to say thank you to the emergency responders who do so much for our communities. Monday the Buda Fire Department received a $5,700 grant to buy emergency equipment through the Flint Hills Resources Helping Heroes Program. Buda Fire Chief Clay Huckaby talks about how his department will use the grant and how it helps the citizens of Buda. More than 2,000 third graders from across District 196 are taking field trips to the Minnesota Zoo this fall to learn about the science of operating a zoo. Not only is the Zoo Safari program a fun experience for students – it fulfills STEM requirements in the classroom. We’re grateful for the talented people at the Minnesota Zoo for partnering with us on this fantastic program!

It’s a busy day here at the Fox 9 Girls, Science and Technology event where the Flint Hills team is demonstrating how to make your own lava lamp and the science behind how it works.
Check out Martina and Megan, two Flint Hills Resources engineers, demonstrating how to make homemade lava lamps. The lava lamps are just one of the many interactive experiments that will be featured during the Fox 9 Girls, Science and Technology event at the Science Museum of Minnesota this weekend. Dozens of prominent female scientists from around the state will be at the museum to help get girls excited to learn about science and technology through hands on activities.
