R6 Super 6 Hippity Hop Derby
On Thursday July 20, 2017, AQHA Region 6 hosted Willard's Hippity Hop Derby, a fundraiser for the Willard Rhodes/Region 6 Scholarship through the AQHA Foundation. Trainers from across the region participated in a no-holds barred hippity hop race that had everyone laughing and cheering, and raised over $3200 for the Scholarship. The Willard Rhodes/R6 Scholarship will be awarded for the first time in 2018 to a youth from Region 6. The goal is to raise enough money to award two $2500 renewable scholarships each year. Ryan Burnett, representing Buckley Quarter Horses, hopped home with the evening's big prize, followed by Ricky Noiseux, from Powder Brook Farm, and Lisa Whalen-Swett, of Lisa Whalen-Swett Performance Horses. Thanks to our generous bidders who helped make the event so successful: Mike and Dawn McCallum, Brent and Karen Giansanti, Buckley Quarter Horses, the McAllister Family/Rolling M Ranch, Cory and Wendy Welch, the Carlson Family, the Jenkins Family, and Lisa Mazurka. Thanks to Christie Pope and Heather Lange for organizing the event and to Darren Moore for his assistance in auctioning off our "Hoppers." photo credit to Hailey Boisvert.
