We had a great time at YA Not Club Read tonight! (Is "it sounds like you were having fun in there" just a nice way of saying "man, you guys were loud?!") There are a few books left for next month. Author Stormy Smith will be joining us too! Pick up a copy at the checkout desk or order a copy of your own from the authors site. See you at the next YA Not meeting on February 8 @6:30.

Word is a monthly hangout for teens. Some months we will create. Some months we will build. Some months we will eat snacks or watch a movie. Every month it will be rad. This month we will be making slime. For ages 12-18. Registration required (see link below).

Stop by the West Des Moines Library from 9AM-5PM on the 27th or 2PM to 4PM on the 28th to see the DesMoinNTrak's N-scale working layout. This event is open to adults and children of all ages. Make sure to stop by the Children's Department for a fun train craft before you leave! No registration needed.

Classes are at the West Des Moines Public Library on the first Friday of each month, January-May. Classes will start at 11 a.m. with discussion time ending at noon. Registration is required. Target audience will be parents of young children, birth through preschool, but information provided will be helpful for all parents. Children are welcome to come and play during the class! This month's topic is Judgement. Do you feel judged as a parent? Do you feel that your parenting techniques and the way you interact with your child(ren) are under a microscope? Research shows that 90 percent of moms and 85 percent of dads feel judged as parents. In this class, we will talk about the judgment we feel as parents and learn techniques for being confident in our parenting and dealing with this judgment. Class taught by Jessica Pierce, Early Childhood Parent Educator for WDMCS Community Education.

State of Iowa Information Security Officer, Alison Radl, will provide cyber security awareness training session at the West Des Moines Library. This 30 minute training session will cover the basics of cyber security awareness and provide tips for protecting personal information. The session will allow time for questions and answers.
