The Pine Mountain Gold Museum at Stockmar Park is a unique historical site with a museum, actual mining sites, nature trails and gold panning all at one location. The Pine Mountain Gold Museum at Stockmar Park is a unique historical site with a museum, actual mining sites, nature trails and gold panning all at one location. Experience gold mining techniques spanning over 100 years beginning in the 1820s through the early 1930s. We are listed on the National Register of Historic Places and awarded the Southern Arc's Best of 2008 "Best Tourist Attraction" and the Carroll County 2009 Preservation Award. We were also the site for the filming of Robert DeNiro and John Travolta in February 2012, for the film "Killing Season" due out in 2013.
We have a bevy of opportunities to volunteer and cater to your strengths, skills, and likes. We are mostly volunteer based and can use any assistance including tour guides, research, administrative, cleaning, organizing, event assistance, gardening, etc. Let us know what you like to do, and we can find a way to include you!

COMING SOON! Staff and volunteers are busily constructing a new historic hiking trail at Pine Mountain Gold Museum. In addition to allowing visitors to experience the nature that Pine Mountain has to offer the trail also winds through history. Along this new trail you can see the ruins of the old mining station, modern mining equipment, as well as four mine entrances that have never been on public display before. Mark the date: April 15th 2017. Pine Mountain Gold Museum will host our 1st ever Cowboy Festival. There will be free music, & cowboy shows. There will be history demonstrations scheduled throughout the day - including blacksmithing, flint knapping, and distilling. There will be several mine tours given by Museum staff. We will also be offering train rides (departing from Pinetown Depot,) Museum entrance and Gold and Gemstone Panning. Everyone that chooses to pan for Gemstones will leave with a bag of gems. There is no admission to attend the festival, enjoy the music or the cowboy shows. Train rides, Museum entrance, & Gold and Gemstone panning are $5.00 each with discounts for children under age 2, seniors, and military. For more information call: 678.840.1445.
