Description
Jim Forthofer has 35 yrs of executive level experience and a clear vision of Vermilion's critical growth issues. Beautiful Vermilion deserves no less! Council is an important body. Contract authorizations and ordinance reviews are essential. But, the office of Mayor requires different, unique skills. The ability to identify a critical vision for the city, relationship building with outside organizations and ethical ambassadorship to the rest of the state is what Jim Forthofer has excelled in for 35 years. As a successful national magazine publisher, Jim has a reputation for sound budget development and management as well as respectful and effective supervision of a staff of as many as 60. Jim's extensive service on Vermilion's boars and commissions as well as his love for the city make him an exceptionally well qualified mayoral candidate.

Ms. Debbie Clark-Becker's second graders at Vermilion Elementary. READ ACROSS AMERICA!
READ ACROSS AMERICA MONTH! Set a good example and read to a group of your favorite little listeners. I read to the three year old ladies of Ms. Cieslak’s Lakeview Baptist Preschool (Dr. Seuss’s Book of FEET ). Also, Ms. Clark-Becker invited me to read to her second graders at Vermilion Elementary (Sloppy Joe). They also had some really good questions about what a mayor does. Too bad they can't vote. READ TO OUR KIDS!!!

VERMILION WATER PLANT. Important decisions ahead! The EPA is insisting that our water plant address certain issues. Service Director Valerius, Council members Brady, Loucka and I met with Water Plant Manger Eugene Baker March 9th. We saw the source of EPA complaints. Our plant produces 1.2 million gallons of high quality water. Will EPA compliance costs cause us to outsource our water supply to a regional water cooperative? I DON’T SEE IT!!!! Come to Council's UTILITIES MEETING Monday, March 13th and have your say.

FISH FRY SEASON! Few do it better than VOL’s Community Center in Vermilion. Sue and I loved the company last night which included Forthofer For Mayor Campaign Treasurer Susanne Zadell and husband Frank, my Vermilion Council colleague Barb Brady and her husband Terry, the Burgers, Riddles, and about 300 others. Put this fry on YOUR list!

Money is hard to find in Vermilion. But, Mayor Bulan has again secured a $300k Downtown Revitalization grant for downtown properties and businesses. (see map). A heavily attended meeting was held Monday at the Main Street offices where the application process was explained. In 20014-15 we on the Parks Board built Friendship Park on the site of the old ambulance garage with similar funds. GRANT WRITING SKILLS PAY!!
