Vallejo Yacht Club
Description
The North Bay's most fun on and off the water club! You cannot find better water or prettier sunsets. Home to the season opener Great Vallejo Race The Vallejo Yachting and Rowing Club was formed on April 27, 1900, soon thereafter joining the PICYA. It was the seventh club to join the PICYA.
The first clubhouse was started in 1901 and was completed in 1902. Most of the members at the time were either from Vallejo or with the Navy at Mare Island.
On May 15, 1936, Vallejo Yachting and Rowing Club incorporated and became a non-profit corporation. The name of the organization was changed to Vallejo Yacht Club. One of the purposes for which the corporation was formed was:
"To encourage yachting, rowing and aquatic sports; to promote good fellowship and the social interest and pleasure of the members of this corporation."
