Don't forget the Sheriff's Office Halloween carnival this Saturday evening between 5:00 and 8:00 at the Civic Center (Fairgrounds) on East Hill Avenue. This family friendly event provides a carnival atmosphere with games, food, a hayride, candy for the children and much more. There is a $1 per person entrance fee and the proceeds from the event are donated this year to the Boys and Girls Club of Valdosta. Join us for lots of candy, fun and food. Happy birthday Bentley! This past weekend Bentley, who is 4 years old invited several members of the Sheriff’s Office to celebrate his birthday. The deputies were joined by the Georgia State Patrol and Lowndes County Fire Rescue to make the birthday party a success for Bentley. Great job!
Sheriff Ashley Paulk is excited to once again partner with other first responders to offer a safe Halloween carnival for the children of the community. This family friendly event provides a carnival atmosphere with games, food, a hayride, candy for the children and much more. There is a $1 per person entrance fee and the proceeds from the event are donated this year to the Boys and Girls Club of Valdosta. The carnival will be Saturday, October 28 between 5:00 and 8:00 at the Civic Center on East Hill Avenue. Join us for lots of candy and plenty of smiles for this years event. The final sessions of the Firearms Safety Course for 2017 have been scheduled. These dates include: Saturday, October 21 Saturday, November 4 Saturday, November 18 Saturday, December 2 This training is conducted at the Sheriff's Office firing range located behind the Grassy Pond Military Recreational area in Lake Park. Each class begins at 8:30 and should end around 3:00. The instruction includes classroom presentation on the Georgia use of force laws and firearm safety and then moves to the range for live fire practical exercises. Each participant is required to furnish their own handgun of either a .380, 9 millimeter, 10 millimeter, .40 caliber or a .45 caliber and the appropriate holster for your weapon. You must also furnish: 100 rounds of ammunition Hat with a brim, eye protection, and hearing protection Pants or shorts with a belt To register for one of these classes, contact the Sheriff's Office, Training Division at 229 671-3120. This class is offered for FREE by the Sheriff’s Office and taught by instructors with real time carry and weapons use spanning several decades of knowledge in every day carry, concealed carry, open carry and firsthand experience in the use of force. During a recent investigation, the Sheriff's Office has recovered a number of items believed to be stolen.
