Bistro Foufou
Description
French bistro in the heart of downtown Traverse City. Come see how fun French can be!
About Bistro Foufou:
Bistro Foufou is located in the beautiful and historic former firehouse in downtown Traverse City. The long and narrow space has been delightfully renovated and features a stunning bar that seats 30 on one side, and a sleek dining room on the other. Additional seating is avaialble at the pantry kitchen bar, where you can watch the kitchen in action. We serve lunch and dinner, and a teriffic happy hour. The chef and owner, Guillaume Hazael-Massieux, creates memorable rendtitions of his native France's familiar cuisine using the highest quality ingredients; and being in Northern Michigan, that means that many of our ingredients come from farmers and producers close to home. We look forward to seeing you at Foufou!
What is a foufou?
Fou means crazy in French. Foufou is the créole nickname for hummingbird, because of the bird's crazy flight pattern. But why a bird and why créole? Our sister restaurant, La Becasse, is also a bird--a woodcock--and Guillaume wanted to maintain an avian theme in naming this new venture. And the créole name is a nod to his Guadeloupean heritage.
