The 4th, 5th, and 6th District Clerks were well represented at the Superior Court Clerk's Annual Spring Conference this past week. Carolyn Williams, Clerk of Superior Court of Pike County won the 2016 Clerk of the Year Stetson Bennett Award. Kye Gibson, Clerk of Superior Court of Meriwether County, was recognized as the 4th, 5th, and 6th Districts Clerk of the Year AND received her certificate for completing the certified clerk training program. Ruth Wilson, Clerk of Superior Court of Rockdale County, also recieved her certificate for completion of the certified clerk training program. Barbara Harrison, Clerk of Superior Court of Henry County, was sworn in as District Chairperson for the 4th, 5th, and 6th District Clerks. Congratulations to all of you on your accomplishments! It was a great week full of good training and good times with our fellow clerks from across the state. We were honored to have Speaker of the House, David Ralston, speak to us on Thursday. I am already looking forward to next year!

All county offices, including the Clerk's Office, will be closed Friday, April 14th, in observance of Good Friday. May we all take a few moments to reflect on the real reason for Good Friday and the Easter Holiday weekend. Hope you get to spend this special weekend with those you love. Happy Easter everyone!

Congratulations Kye Gibson for being chosen as the 4th, 5th and 6th Districts' Clerk of the Year!!! You truly deserve this honor. You work so hard, not only for Meriwether County, but for all the other 158 clerks in the State. You are beautiful inside and out and I am truly blessed to call you not only a colleague, but a dear friend! I hope you enjoyed your special day!

NEW JURY ANNOUNCEMENT: Jurors summoned for Monday, February 27, 2017, do NOT have to report. If you know someone who has jury duty on Monday, please let them know that they do not have to report. If you were summoned and turned in a questionnaire with your contact information, you will receive a phone call tomorrow to verify that your service will not be needed. I apologize for the confusion. The District Attorney, the Defense Attorneys, and their staffs, work very hard to find the best resolution for the trial cases. Somtimes it just works out this way and things get resolved at the last minute. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
Jurors summoned for Monday, February 27, 2017, need to report at 9am at the Upson County Courthouse. Thank you!

FYI: If you have received a post card from the United States District Court for the Middle District Georgia juror qualification questionnaire, this is legit. It did not come from Superior Court and Superior Court has no control over Federal Court. They are just trying to update their jury records. You can go online to complete the questionnaire electronically or a paper one will be mailed to you later. This is not saying you have jury duty at this time.
Why Didn't We Do This Before?

My awesome, wonderful staff! From filing to scanning to indexing and everything in between, these ladies know how to get it done! They can also throw a fabulous party together in a minute's notice! Thank you ladies for all you do to make our office shine!
The clerk's office will be closed Monday, January 2, 2017 for the New Year Holiday. We will reopen Tuesday, January 3rd at 8am. There are big changes for 2017. A new Superior Court Judge, Scott Ballard, will be joining the Griffin Judicial Circuit. Ben Coker will be serving as our new District Attorney. I know that both of these men are going to do great things for our circuit. My office will be undergoing case management changes and updates. There are new laws regarding plat efiling. My staff will be taking on new job descriptions as my real estate clerk, Jenny Calvert, will be leaving us to take a new career path. One thing that will not be changing, is my committment to continue to serve Upson County to the best of my ability. In this ever changing technological world, I vow that my staff and I will never lose the personal service that you have become accustomed to. Thank you Upson County for the opportunity to serve as your Clerk of Superior Court for four more years. I am grateful for your trust and your support! I hope you all have a safe and Happy New Year!
