Three divisions (gi brown belts all ages; no-gi adult & masters). Three men in each. One win, one loss in each (three silvers.) First match in gi brown belt, about my weight, great Z-guard. Regulation went the distance; sudden death I won with a sweep. Second match in gi brown belt, smaller guy, pretty squirrelly. Attacked a couple toeholds, he ate em up. He got a pass (3pts); I got the reversal (0pts) and reattacked the toehold, broke his foot, let go. He said go on; ref said go on. Stuck in top 50/50 for the rest of the match for the loss. Gave the guy Ibuprofen 😬 First match no-gi masters. Brutish purple belt MMA fighter. He passed my guard, I got the okeydoke, he turned away and I took his back. He escaped to half guard and turned away again, then turtled. Got his back again and sunk in the RNC for the win. Second match no-gi masters (my last match of the day) I pulled guard and spent the rest of regulation there. Sudden death I pulled again, but he drove and they gave him the takedown for the win. First match no gi adult: I shot the single; he sprawled; I held on, eventually sucked it in for the sweep. ThenI think we scrambled and I spent the rest of the match with him in my guard: 2-0 in regulation. Second no-gi adult was the same brown belt I beat in gi. He pulled the same Z-guard and fed the kimura. I thought I could reverse it so I let him do it - mistake. He locks it in, ended up on top. I was safe until he stepped over for the earl grey for the sub. Overall pleased with my performance. All tough guys, all tough matches, all (well, mostly) legit results. Other Concept competitor reports and videos upcoming.

Two hard-fought matches. Won my first in sudden death. Second match I broke the guy's foot with a toho - and he kept fighting to win it 3-0.

Concept folks, my buddy Alex made this great video about mat rules and etiquette. Please watch, learn, take it to heart, and share with new members or fellow grapplers elsewhere.
