Description
The Lowry Parcade is Tampa's first arcade and craft beer tavern. Come enjoy classic arcades and fine beer. Bring your quarters, we kick it old-school here. I grew up in the 1980s, which essentially meant that I was raised by a machine that only worked if you gave it money, its only sounds of encouragement unintelligible bleeps and boops, and its only reward was a meaningless wall of dubious achievements.
Also, I had arcade games.

Anyway, I really did have fond memories of arcades, from the pre-Vegas training grounds of Charles Entertainment Cheese's to the seedy underworld of mall arcades, the thing that made games great was that while they sold fantasy as entertainment, they themselves were objects of fantasy.
Everyone knew some kid who could get through the first eight levels of Tron without losing a life, someone who could beat Dragon's Lair blindfolded, someone with Barry Allenesque fingers whose name sat atop every Track & Field event score list.
It's part of that mythology and nostalgia that we are really interested in here at the Lowry Parcade. The games are important (and we have a LOT of them), but maybe more important is the look and feel and sound of the room. All of our games are completely original (no hate on our MAME peeps, we are just on a theme here), with the same weird glitches, strange volume controls (or lack thereof), same odd artwork, and hopefully the same emotional connections.
So come down and see for yourself how we did, and maybe have a beer or two because seriously, some things are better as an adult.

Think: any 90's sitcom stars, grunge / nu-metal rockers, rappers, boybands, Spice Girls rip-offs, jncos, pogs, Power Rangers, 90's game / cartoon characters, a recreation of any of your 90's school photos, etc. We will have 90s music playing, raffles for anyone dressed as the era, token giveaways as well, and we'll have a High Life toast at midnight. Tuesday 5pm: Community is one of our focuses here, and we want to help support the groups and businesses in our community who help so many others. We would like to start a series of fundraising events called "Insert Coins to Care". Once every couple of months, we will host an organization, and all the proceeds from our arcade for the day will be donated to the group. Planned Parenthood Tampa will be our first group here. One of their volunteers will be here to meet the public, help educate and inform, and hopefully play a few arcades with us. You all can help support just by playing in our arcade, and we like to think there isn't a more fun way to donate.

Free-2-Play setups of multiple PS1's, PS2's and even PSP onto a HDMI display. If you have a soft spot for Tekken, Ridge Racer, PaRappa the Rapper, Spyro and dat 32-bit CD-based soundtrack to each, then this event is for you. Sony is known to have fantastic 1P adventure games but there will be plenty of fighters and co-ops to balance it out. Feel free to post your game requests on this event page and invite your fam and friends from out of town for the ultimate Playstation event!
