AIDB is the world’s most comprehensive education, rehabilitation and service program serving individuals of all ages with hearing and vision loss. The Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind (AIDB) is the world’s most comprehensive education, rehabilitation and service program serving individuals of all ages who are deaf, blind, deaf-blind and multi-disabled. Founded in 1858 by a young medical doctor who wanted to educate his deaf brother, AIDB now serves more than 24,215 infants, toddlers, children, adults and seniors with hearing and vision loss throughout Alabama each year.
In Talladega, AIDB has six campuses:
• Alabama School for the Deaf
• Alabama School for the Blind
• Alabama Industries for the Blind
• Helen Keller School
• E.H. Gentry Facility
• Marianna Greene Henry (MGH) Special Equestrian Arena
AIDB also has eight regional centers located in Birmingham, Dothan, Huntsville, Mobile, Montgomery, Talladega, Tuscaloosa and Tuscumbia which extend the program offerings throughout the state.

The Willie and Betty Farrior Family Foundation was kind enough to donate money to our three senior classes this week. We appreciate the love and support this family continues to show our students. Farrior Drive at Alabama Industries for the Blind was named after Mr. Willie Farrior - a very important figure in the history of the Industries.

The 4th-6th grade students at Alabama School for the Blind went on a field trip to Wallace Hall in Gadsden to see the play "Oliver" last week. Charli Grace Strawn (a fellow ASB 5th grader) and her brother both acted in the play!

Ms. Brenda Lee’s class at the Helen Keller School of Alabama entered the Bonnie Farm Cabbage Program contest. HKS student Amiya Hill, with the assistance of her teacher’s father, Mr. William E. Simmons, grew the largest cabbage which weighed in at 17 pounds and 3 feet wide! Amiya’s name will be entered in a random state wide drawing for a $1,000 scholarship towards education and statewide recognition. Way to go, Amiya!
