Andrew “Shin” R. Adamchak, 83 of Streator passed away Friday evening (September 2nd) at Heritage Health and Senior Care. Following cremation a visitation will be held Friday from 10 – 11 AM at the Winterrowd Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 AM at the funeral home. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery with full military honors conducted by members of the Streator American Legion and VFW. Andrew was born on December 21, 1932 in Streator to John “Yank” and Molly (Minick) Adamchak. He married Karen Decker on October 20, 1956. She preceded him death on January 6, 2010. Surviving are children Julie (Richard) Lotshaw of Streator, Mary (Steve) Southey of Streator, Kelly (Ray) Durdan of Sterling and Joe (Traci) Adamchak of Streator, 9 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson, sisters, Mary “Mitz” (Richard) Holloway of Streator, Nancy Aragon of Ransom, Delores Tuck of Streator, brothers Tom (June) Adamchak of Streator and Bill (Sandy) Adamchak of Streator and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, son Andrew Jr., sister ,Vera Zulz and brothers Ed, Bud and Danny. Andrew attended Streator Grade Schools and was a veteran of the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He was employed for many years the Sinclair Gas Station and retired from Transco. Andrew was a active member of the Vermillion Boat Club and his biggest passion was fishing, watching the Chicago Bears and spending time with his grandchildren and his favorite companion Brittany his dog. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
