Congratulations to everyone who auditioned yesterday at All-Region! Very proud of your hard work and especially proud of those that made it! Unofficially, we had a total of 46 students make the All-Region Bands (not including 9 Alternates as well:) We also had 4 student musicians that earned Top honors as 1st Band 1st Chair in their respective sections. Rehearsal today for J.O. Kelley's concert this evening. Hats off to James Hendrix and staff (Chris Moore, Ashley Baty, Sarah Miller) for their great work with these students. Lots of excited band students.

Next semester we are looking forward to trying something new! Several students have expressed an interest in starting a Mariachi ensemble that meets after school. This would be a wonderful opportunity for our students to learn about Mariachi music and the tradition. In order to give this a shot, we need to purchase a vihuela and guitarron, the instruments of the Armonía section of a Mariachi. Any help you could give, whether from donating or sharing this post would be much appreciated! For 7 days, a donation of $50 can be doubled with the promo code LIFTOFF. The SHS band program had a chance to spread further Christmas Cheer through several "extra" holiday performances toward the end of the semester. This one took place in the Rotunda at Springdale High School in front of an excited bunch of staff and part of the student body! Another opportunity for our students to perform and to give back to our school community!

Annual Chili Supper Fundraiser -- We would love to have you come out to eat and hear live jazz music this evening from the SHS Jazz band. The supper lasts from 4:30 - 7:00PM. The jazz band will perform at 5:30PM. Cost is $5.00 for a delicious meal. We would love to have you stop by:)

Today, several of the SHS band juniors and seniors visited Arkansas Tech to be a part of the Arkansas Tech Marching Band of Distinction for a day!We ran into several Springdale alumni who are currently members of the ATU band and we got to perform pregame and halftime with several schools from Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Missouri. A very fun day for us!
