Welcome to USS Makin Island's Official Facebook page. This page is intended to provide updated information, photos and videos to the friends and families of Team Raider Sailors and the world-wide public to whom we owe thanks and gratitude for such outstanding support.

Comments are welcome and we ask that you follow our posting guidelines here. While this is an open forum, it's also a family friendly one, so please keep your comments and wall posts courteous, respectful and free from vulgarity. Comments and posts that do not follow these guidelines will be removed:

- Publicizing ship's location, planned movements and prospective in-port dates can be a violation of OPSEC and put the ship and crew at risk. The amount of allowable advance notice can vary depending on which port the ship is scheduled to visit, but the ship's Public Affairs staff will post movements and dates at the earliest releasable time. Just because your Sailor has told you about the ship's plans does not mean it's releasable to the public, so please don't discuss that information here unless it's already been officially posted.

- We do not allow graphic, obscene, explicit or racially offensive comments or submissions, nor do we allow comments that are abusive, hateful or intended to defame anyone or any organization.

- We do not allow solicitations or advertisements. This includes promotion or endorsement of any other group, page, financial, commercial or non-governmental agency. Similarly, we do not allow attempts to defame or defraud any other group, page, financial, commercial or non-governmental agency.

- We do not allow comments that suggest or encourage illegal activity.

- You participate at your own risk, taking personal responsibility for your comments, your username and any information provided.

- For Official Use Only (FOUO), classified, pre-decisional, proprietary or business-sensitive information should never be discussed here. Don’t post personnel lists, rosters, organization charts or directories. This is a violation of privacy.
