We are so happy this week to receive the visit of two of our alumni, Kensei Kochi and Misa Shinozuka,. Both of them are International Exchange students from one of UCR’s long-term sister universities, Josai International University. They were here during the 2014-2015 academic year. Kensei attended the Improving Oral Fluency program. Besides studying English, he also enjoyed his time here teaching Judo at the UCR Gym. Kensei has a black belt. Misa attended the Intensive English Program and says that she had a great time at UCR with her teachers, friends, and homestay family. She also said that UCR Extension center is one of her favorite places in California. Thank you so much for visiting us, Kensei and Misa! It is always a real pleasure to see our alumni again and learn how they are doing. We would like to take this opportunity to congratulate both of them for their upcoming graduation in May, and to wish them all the very best in the next stage of their lives. #ucriep

Introducing our latest segment…R’Style! Our students come from around the world and each share a unique global style. R’Style is a special segment where we showcase these global trendsetters! Rainie Chen is a TESOL student at IEP who can often be seen wearing large hats and colorful outfits. “I really like hats! I have more than 20 hats back home in China. Fashion expresses my attitude towards life – I am an outgoing and positive girl, and I have my own style. I like to wear many different colors to show that I love the colors of life and I like to try new, special things.” As a TESOL student, when she’s not giving us all a lesson in fashion, Rainie is teaching English as a Second Language. “I have been in the TESOL program for 4 months, and I extremely enjoy the classes. I feel more confident about my future teaching career. I recommend the program to anyone interested in teaching English – I’m sure you will learn a lot of interesting and useful things.” If you are thinking about becoming an English teacher, be sure to check out our TESOL program at IEP: If you think you know someone with R’Style, be sure to let us know and you might be our next featured student!
