As many of you are aware, the 10 man inmate crew that once was cleaning up litter and weed eating right of ways, has been shut down for some time now. As the Jailer of Madison County, I feel like this is a disservice to the citizens of the county, as well as an inefficient use of inmate labor. For these reasons, I have decided to resume this service under the direction of the Detention Center. Therefore, I am making this announcement to ask that anyone who has suggestions of areas of concern, whether it be roadway trash pick-up or overgrown areas, please contact us via facebook or by calling 859-624-4710. Thank You Doug Thomas Madison County Jailer

A DAILY FEE AT THE JAIL? Judge/Executive Reagan Taylor believes the county could recover nearly $790,000 of that if it charged inmates a daily $10 fee, in addition to the $20 booking fee it already charges. Taylor told the fiscal court Tuesday that he and Jailer Doug Thomas have been researching what other counties charge and their success in collection. http://www.richmondregister.com/news/county-considering-daily-charge-for-inmates/article_a8041c74-3504-11e7-89b4-7fa1d48ece6b.html
Richmond Utilities has issued a boil water advisory for the entire city of Richmond. It's all because of a water line break off Moberly Road. The break means many people do not have water service right now. Richmond Utilities tells us they have crews at the scene of the break trying to fix the problem. They will be working through the night. The boil water advisory goes until further notice.
Our thoughts and prayers go out today, to the Deputy's and staff of the Rockcastle County Detention Center, for the loss of one of there brothers Deputy Mike Rosiere. We will keep you in our prayers please let us know if you need anything.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the the local churches and the community for their support of our Baptism that was conducted at the Detention Center on February 14th, 2017. We had a total of 58 inmates who were Baptized. These inmates have attended regular counseling sessions as well as church services that are provided for them by the churches that work with us. I am happy to see so many men and women making the decision to try and turn their lives around. I truly believe these programs can and will work for those who choose to be involved in them. Below are some pictures from the service.
