Due to a motor vehicle crash along the flood levee near the end of Glover Street, power will be out for a few hours today as AEP crews work to restore the electric service to much of the lower end of Portsmouth, including the areas of Shawnee State University and the Portsmouth City Schools. As a result, many of the traffic lights at downtown intersections are inoperable. As a reminder, motorists should treat such intersections as a four way stop. If you can avoid areas impacted by the outage please do so. Those people who have medical monitors that require electricity should plan to be without power during the day and make arrangements accordingly. Please do not call dispatch for power restoration estimates. Crews are on scene and working to restore power.
