IVCH Still a Blue Cross/Blue Shield Hospital. Medical services provided by Illinois Valley Community Hospital are not affected by the recent announcement from the Blue Cross/Blue Shield insurance network that it is removing area OSF hospitals from its provider list beginning in January 2018. “IVCH is still part of the Blue Cross/Blue Shield network,” said Tommy Hobbs, IVCH chief executive officer. “The announcement does not in any way alter our relationship with Blue Cross,” Hobbs noted that IVCH is not an OSF hospital even though some OSF specialists receive patients at IVCH.

Courtney McCoy is October’s IVCH Employee of the Month. Filling in for a sick colleague so a patient could have a needed test done on time earned Diagnostic Imaging’s Courtney McCoy the October Employee of the Month Award at IVCH. Here’s what DI Director Cindy Herrmann said in her nomination: “A patient had started a 2-day test on 8/21 and needed to return on 8/22 to complete the exam. The technologist needing to complete the exam called in sick. Courtney was the only person who could perform the scheduled study. Despite working all night and having to bring her child in with her, she was kind enough to return to work at 9 a.m. to perform the needed exam.” Dr. Steve Lukancic, IVCH radiologist, also nominated Courtney for the award.
