I've often heard so-called fly fishing purists claim that fishing egg patterns isn't really fly fishing because an egg pattern doesn't imitate an insect. These same purists don't seem to take issue with streamers. Streamers don't imitate insects. They imitate bait fish. Maybe it's because, at the right time, egg patterns catch fish, a lot of fish, and big ones too! I don't consider myself a fly fishing purist. I'm a fly fisherman, and I like to catch fish -- the more the merrier! What are your thoughts on the matter? P.S. I caught this beauty on a . . . (you guessed it) an egg pattern!
