First United Methodist Church (Downtown, Connections and 4m Party Barn Church campuses) in partnership with the City of Paris and other local businesses. It is our dream that the Downtown Community Park will be a welcoming, interactive family environment.  It will come with a harmony musical playground, splash pad, green space, walking path, food truck court, public restrooms and spaces for downtown and church parking. The fully landscaped city block (two blocks east of The Plaza) will be open to ALL and will lend itself to special events, parade viewing, and planned downtown activities.

This was truly a community wide collaborative effort.  First United Methodist Church entered into a partnership with the City of Paris and had other partners quickly join them to reach the goal of funding and building this park.  The total cost of the park was 1.2 million dollars.  Our lead gift, of $100.000, came from Liberty National Bank!  Hayter Engineering offered their services as a huge in-kind gift! These two gifts encouraged other partners to come together to raise approximately $500,000 (cash and in-kind gifts) from the Paris community and beyond.  The church offered 40% of a city block for the park itself and funded $700,000 of the project to finish out the entire city block as a park and landscaped parking space.

Here Is a Way That You Can Help in the Wake of Hurricane Harvey TONIGHT. CitySquare Paris will be taking the lead in preparing a Red Cross Shelter for coastal evacuees. We want to be sure that we are ready if we get the call from the Red Cross that evacuees are on the way. Anyone in our community interested in helping with the shelter is invited to attend the training. The Youth/Ministry Center First United Methodist Church, Paris, TX is a designated shelter site (located just to the east of our main building). This is also where the training will be held tonight (Thursday) from 6:00-9:00. You must be trained and receive your badge/id to work in RC Shelters. If you can’t make it Thursday come at the same time on Friday. Any questions can be directed to Ted Henderson at 903-227-4412 with CitySquare Paris. Continued prayers for our brothers and sisters on the coast!! What Can You Do to Help in the Wake of Hurricane Harvey? You can be trained as a Shelter Volunteer (this is required to work in Red Cross Shelters) this Thursday from 6:00-9:00 at the First United Methodist Church, Paris, TX Youth/Ministry Center. Just show up…no registration needed. If you can’t make it Thursday come at the same time on Friday. There is a strong likely hood that we will become a Shelter. CitySquare Paris will be taking the lead and coordinating all things Shelter. Our special Offering this past Sunday for our United Methodist Committee on Relief and their work on the coast was over $4,000. We will be taking up another one this Sunday. If you would like to donate online please click on the link below (scroll down to Other and write Hurricane in the memo line).
